Hey sorry for all of you that I didn't write last week. I'll explain here.
So starting Tuesday from last week. We managed to work about 5 hours then my companion couldn't any more for his sickness.....
And that leads to the rest of the week....we were stuck in the house for the whole week..... I know haha not very eventful.
Easter Sunday....well he couldn't even leave to church. So we were in the house again. And
we had a plan to go write Monday in the morning then head to Managua so
he could go to the hospital, but we recieved a call at 10:30 in the
evening saying we had to deliver the Zone leader to Managua for a new
leader meeting. Att first we were a bit cranky about that, since we had
to wake up at 4:30 in the morning, but once we got there we got leave to
head out and do whatever we wanted as long as we didn't do anything too
bad. So we headed to a cyber to write, but it was closed. and I
was like, I know where another cyber is. So we went to my first area, in
Reparto Schick and the cyber was closed again haha! So we went to a
different one in my area, and after about a half hour. Low and behold,
my old Companion walks in to buy a ton of plastic bags. And it was like.
Man hey!!!! How are ya!?!?! And coincidentally they were doing an activity there at the Chapel only about a 2 minute walk away! So we
left writing early to go and do that. So I got to see a lot of people
from my old zone, and even my old Zone Leader from Leon. So that was
pretty awesome. So that's kinda why we didn't end up writing the mass
email last week. Sorry everyone.
But
after that, we headed to the hospital, and then had a plan of heading
back to Matagalpa in the morning. So we went to the Assistants to the President's house, and slept there. We got a call at about 10pm that
night saying he (my comp) has another appointment Tuesday. So yeah..... Tuesday we
ended up going to the Meeting for all the new Missionaries. Since we
couldn't just stay at the Assistant's house all day. So we went and I
got to see my old companion again. Haha. So that was pretty cool. We
ended up doing that until after lunch when the Bells (the mission Nurse
and her husband) took us to go see the cardiologist. And found out that my companion has some heart problems, and the doctor said we couldn't go back to
Matagalpa until they run a test to know for sure what it is... But the
problem was we had to get permission first from the church headquarters.
And that takes time. So we left from the Hospital, but since we didn't
have keys to the assistants house and they were gone until 9, we went to
the Bell's house. And stayed there for the evening. I helped Elder Bell
cook dinner, and then we gave a family home evening lesson. We taught
the lesson on Prayer, and it was a really cool opportunity to teach some
other missionaries, and they all had really good comments and inmput.
Then afterwards we played cards, and we were dropped off at the AP's
house.
Wednesday we stayed the whole day at the AP's house, and got a message about the time for the next appointment on Thursday.
Thursday
we went to the hospital in the morning, and found out he has a heart
problem where the bacteria is attacking the heart valves. We were
admitted to the hospital, and stayed the whole day there.....and night
as well...and the whole next day and night. But hey, they gave me money to
buy food there. and the food was really good. But expensive too. But oh
well. That is the life...I guess I'll suffer with the best food I've
had on the mission for 5 days. Woe is me. Haha Jk. But honestly it was
pretty boring
Saturday
we headed out and went to San Ramon Matagalpa, to pack all my
companion's stuff. (he stayed in the Hospital with the son on the
Mission President.) So I took a road trip with the Bells. I feel I've
gotten to know them pretty well this week, and they are some pretty cool
people.
Sunday
we manged to have me go with Elder Bell to the closest chapel in our
Mission. Which just so happened to be in Reparto Shick. My first area!
So I got to go church there, and it was such a blessing. I have such a
love for the people in that area, and I could feel their love for me.
They are going though a Bishop change right now, but other than that it
seems to be going really good there. It was so great to see so many
wonderful people again.
Then
later in the day Quinonas was going though his stuff, and found some hair gel
from his other companion, he didn't want it and I didn't either...so I
was using it to do some various hair doos just messing around... So while I
was messing with it...we heard a knock at the door....and bam the
President's family....so I was styling my hair...and they walk in haha.
So it was a pretty interesting experience. They were there to visit my
companion. But it was good and fun. We are blessed with such a great
family for the President of our Mission.
So
Monday (today)...well he just got discharged, we went to buy him another
suitcase, and now we are writing in the Church mission office. And soon
back to the Assistance house until Thursday....but anyways Love you all.
I'll leave with a quick testimony.
I
know that this is the right church and even if not everything seems to
go the perfect way, I know that God has a plan for each one of us. And
for example with my companion, he came here to serve the Lord, but then
had to get sent home for a sickness. I know that there was a reason he
was here. And I know that there is a reason the Lord has us do what we
do. Just keep trying to follow his guidance and counsel and we can't be
wrong.
Love, Elder Vogt

A few extra tidbits from family emails:
* The Bell's (the Mission Nurse and husband) keep a weekly blog which I (mom) read each week. Imagine my surprise when this week had several mentions of Elder Vogt! Not only that, but there was also a picture (the one of him at FHE). I learned that they hit a Buffet on their way to Matagalpa to get his companions things, that they had Beef Stroganoff for dinner that Seth helped with and that while at church in Reparto Schick - Elder Vogt was asked to share his testimony.
* They were able to share the gospel with some of the hospital staff and even gave out 2 Books of Mormon
* He said that he spent a few nights at the hospital with his companion and he mostly spent his time studying (and occassionally playing card games like UNO). When I asked what he studying he replied with: "I studied so much haha I don't really remember. Though I was reading a
bit about patience, because haha well that is something that we all
need."
* The hospital was a really nice one and comparable to one found in the US
* Currently they are both still in Managau and will be staying with the Secretaries until his companion leaves on
Thursday to head home for recovery. At that point, he'll be put into a Tri-panionship
somewhere
* His favorite part of this past week was spending time with the Senior Missionaries and having dinner & FHE with them
* When he found out that his dad and older brother were currently en route to a concert (of a group he really likes) he said, "it'd be cool to go, but I'm happier doing what I am doing." - this really made my mom heart happy!
