So on Monday I had a nice good day until near the end. Then I got a
turn of bad luck. So one of our members of our district has this
umbrella that just shoots out, but if it wrapped up it just shoots
forward without opening. So we shot ourselves in the foreheads with the
handle, leaving slight welts on the 4 of us who did it. That wasn't so
bad, but at the store I bought a nice Pen for a dollar or so, but an
hour later it broke in my shirt pocket getting ink all over. That was
what was pretty bad, a couple more things happened but I was mostly
salty about the shirt. It is almost fixed now by constantly treating
it.
So Tuesday was a normal day, Taught one of our investigators Marco
again and I just really love him. He is such a friendly man, and really
humble. He has something wrong with his legs and has to walk around with
crutches, but he is just so very friendly. Also just walking around my
floor started talking with another elder who is going to Hungary and we
actually have a whole lot in common. It's pretty cool.
Now here comes General conference. I think it was so amazing and
just so many inspired talks. I love how so many of my questions were
answered, and so many other unasked questions I had were answered as
well. I could talk about so many of the talks, but I filled out like 80
pages of a small pocket sized notebook.(through both days) It was
wonderful. Later
that night our district had a snack party outside the gym on some
tables, until at 9:33 a security guard told us we couldn't be out here.
How we needed to be in our residences. Which is strange because they
tell us we aren't supposed to be back before 9:30. So I guess it's just a
few second window. We had a zone devotional we do at times, since the
zone leaders left Monday. (zones have about 50 people, and the zone
leaders are called as missionaries) And I was feeling a bit sick so I
asked for a blessing for the next day of general conference so I could
pay attention to it, so Elder Simpson my companion, gave me his first
blessing.
Sunday of conference was really amazing too. so many great talks
also. And that night we saw this one old MTC Devotional for our movie
viewing. (since we get to watch a movie on Sundays. Week one saw
Ephriams Rescue, and last week was 17 Miracles. The talk was called The
Character of Christ, and was probably the best talk I've ever heard.
Since we had 2 days without spanish, Spanish on Monday was really hard, but in the end it was good.
And yesterday we taught Marco again, and I think it was the best
lesson my companion and I have ever given, so that was really sweet. And
I have a story.
So this week close to half our floor left, and since they were all
leaving, they are only allowed so much weight for their bags, so since
we get more stuff here than we came with, Sunday Night there were boxes
of goodies and just random stuff outside of everyone's rooms, So
everyone was just going around taking this and that what we wanted.
Picking the scraps from the people leaving. Just like vultures. But the
biggest way we were vultures was last night. So yesterday the elders
going to Turkey left, and they were down the hall from us. And one who
came from Argentina came here and like all of his suitcases were like 80
pounds each. So since he had to have them under 50 pounds while going,
he left pretty much an entire wardrobe full of random clothes. So we
were all scavengers and picking this and that. And really dumb stuff to
for some people. But he left probably 5 suit coats, another nice coat, 2
trench coats, a couple pairs of shoes, many ties socks, and other
random things. So everyone of the floor picked it clean and got tons of
ridiculous items. I got some leg warmers a matching scarf, and a really
nice winter coat.
I'd say it would be a surprise to my parents if I just mailed it
back to them, but they read these emails too. My companion got some
slippers and sweaters, my roommates got a trench coat, and one got jean
shorts. And one guy got some pink shorts, and really nice winter boots
which he needed. Since he was going to Hungary. It was all in all too
fun.
