Tuesday, September 12th - Monday, Septebmer 18th

So this was a pretty eventful week.

Lets start out with Tuesday

So Tuesday we had the District meeting, and I ended up giving the message (I shared about Charity for the people in our areas), so we did that and then afterwards we went on Divisions with Elder Baez and his companion Elder Davis. So I stayed in San Ramon and Elder Garcia headed over to Matagalpa. The day went okay, but starting at like 6 it started to rain heavy and the lights went out, so we took shelter in the house of a member, and the rain didn't let up even at 9. So we were driven home in their car. The lights kept going out like 6 different times, but once we got back the lights were good and pretty steadily on.

Wednesday we ended the Division, and then we worked like normal with Elder Garcia. We had dinner with a member who lives a bit far, but it was nice. So we took the bus back and sent in some records. Then I went to bed, but Garcia stayed up a bit.

Thursday. So when I woke up I saw a note on my desk. My Companion made me a Congratz 1 year card since today was my 1 year mark in the Mission. So that was a nice little gift. I enjoyed it a lot (and I realized why he stayed up a little bit later then me!) So for the day, well we just worked like normal. Nothing really special. But it was good haha.

Friday, Well it started off with...well breaking a phone. It's a long story but the short version is it fell in the toilet... yeah....we had some left over money from the past 15 days so instead of getting a junky half broken one from the Zone Leaders that they have lying in their house we bought a new one. Shhhh no one can know about this haha. Well they can, but still. So we worked and all and yeah.

Saturday, we started off the day with some service. A member wanted to plant some more stuff in a garden but needed more dark soil. So we ended up hauling a lot of soil a good distance away from another member so she could have it. Then we were invited to another member's house to have Sopa de Mondongo. So for those of you who wanna know a bit more of that. It's intestine soup. It wasn't bad - I didn't love it, but didn't mind it. Intestines have kind of a clam flavor to them, similar texture too, but a bit more fatty. Just don't think of what process they are used for in the cow and it's fine.

Sunday, so while getting ready for church we got a call that Garcia needs to go to Managua tomorrow to receive his Residence card. Then we went to church, and afterwards to a lookout point here in San Ramon.

Today (Monday) well I shall just give a brief description of our day as we traveled to and from Managua. We took a taxi to Matagalpa, Taxi to the bus station, bus to Managua, bus to the Migration center, stayed there for 3 hours doing nothing, taxi to lunch, taxi to the bus station again, bus to Matagalpa, taxi to a certain point where we got off because we saw a convert who called us and needed help (and then literally we passed by them in the taxi as we were talking on the phone!). Then another taxi to the taxis to San Ramon, then another taxi to San Ramon. And now we are here emailing at the cyber cafe.

So I guess in other news in regards to how I feel. Well, I have been on my Mission for 1 year now. It's been quite the journey, but I'm glad I'm here. I hope that I have been able to touch the lives of some people. Because really, that's why I'm here - to help out the best that I can. I'm looking forward to another year helping out. I know at times it's a bit stressful or a bit discouraging, but the more good we can do - the better! Oh, and this past year also brought the loss of 50 pounds!

Love, Elder Vogt
